- difficulty in engaging the hindquarters
- front leg lameness, stumbling, or tripping
- exaggerated stiffness in one direction
- rushing or bolting
- inability to round back and/or neck
- inability to travel in a straight line
- swishing tail, pinning ears, grinding teeth, tossing head
- muscular atrophy
- hypersensitivity to being brushed or touched
- white hairs or scar tissue underneath the saddle
- exhibiting a "bad attitude"
- difficulty in keeping your legs in position
- being thrown back or tipped forward
- tension or pain in the back during and after riding
- lack of security in the saddle
